Purpose of the Intern Program:
At Centerpoint we are committed to love and lead people to a life changing connection with Christ. We are passionate about raising up and equipping the next generation of Kingdom builders.
The CP Intern program is a dynamic 10-week experience, three times a year, where people, ages 18-25, will have an opportunity to grow in their faith, get hands on experience, and find their purpose. Although there are many great ways to get this done our intern program will focus on the following three step process:
Discover - This is the first step in our three step process of the CP Internship program. Through the CP Internship each applicant will be introduced to the inner workings, culture, and daily life of Centerpoint church. This exposure will give them a view of the big picture of God’s work in his church, see what it takes to maintain and grow a thriving ministry, give them a heart for the local church and finally, give them hands on experience that will prepare them for life and service. As a church this will give us the opportunity to pour into our people, raise up future leaders, equip the next generation, and find new potential homegrown staff/volunteers for the body.
Disciple - Jesus said, “Go into all the world and make disciples.” Disciple means, “disciplined one” or “learner.” We desire to pour into the next generation through a holistic form of discipleship. This means pouring into every area of their life. The CP Intern will be challenged in their faith, held to accountability, and refined in community through the exposure and practice of spiritual disciplines, one-on-one mentoring, spiritual and physical training, and how to live life and these kingdom values in the world in which we live.
Discern - This third step in the CP Intern process is about helping the intern discern their identity in Christ, their purpose in life, and the tools or gifts that God has given them to navigate this journey called, “Life.” Where discipleship is about giving them information and training - discerning is about discovering the tools or gifts that God has given them and how to use them in their purpose.
How it Works:
Through an application and interview process, the CP Interns will be asked to commit fully to the 10-week paid (11/hr x 12 hours = $132 a week) Internship and approximately 20 hours of unpaid training per week. This will be a time where we are pouring into them. They will also spend approximately 12 hours of paid work in a specific ministry during the week and on the weekends. As a Centerpoint employee the CP Intern will be held to the same standards and expectations of the Centerpoint staff.
The structured weekly training and activities are designed to help the CP Intern through the discovery, discipleship, and discernment process. An average week will have most of the following elements at any given time. (For more details on each element please see our larger over arching CP Intern packet.) Their week will include:
Staff Team Rallies
Weekly ministry area exposure and teaching
Team building and group projects
Outreach planning and outings
Devotion / Worship
CP Pastor teaching
Inductive Bible study
Life of Christ by Riggs
Spiritual disciplines and fasting
Personality assessment and spiritual gift development
Future planning and next step council
Prayer and commissioning
Learn their identity in Christ
Find their purpose
Discern their gifts and callings
The CP Internship program is mutually beneficial to Centerpoint and the CP Intern. The goal is to invest in the next generation of pastors and leaders therefore creating a deep well to draw from as Centerpoint expands and the demand for staffing and leadership grows.
